HYDE — The Ridgway Elkers took the place of the depleted Bald Eagle Area Eagles Monday night at the Bison Sports Complex and gave the homestanding Bison a good game before falling 16-8 in junior varsity football action.
The Bison opened the scoring on a 66-yard pass and run from Matt Pallo to Logan Firanski. Firanski took the pass out in the left flat and sprinted down the Elker sideline for the score, followed by a Pallo to Matt Bailor 2-point conversion.
Ridgway answered in the second quarter on a pass of their own, a 41 yarder, and tacked on the 2-point conversion to tie the score at eight for the halftime break.
What turned out to be the game-winner was a third quarter six yard touchdown run by Jason Plubell. Another Pallo to Bailor conversion set the final at 16-8.
A late interception by Ian Billotte sealed the win for the hosts.
The Bison (4-2) will finish their season next Monday when they travel to Philipsburg to face the Mounties.
