Joseph Harold Bloom, 88, of Glen Richey, PA passed away on Oct. 19, 2010 at the Clearfield Hospital.
He was born Sept. 9, 1922in Curwensville, PA and the son of Edward and Grace (McDivitt) Bloom.
Mr. Bloom was a coal miner and had retired from the former Howe’s’ Leather in Curwensville.
Mr. Bloom was a member of the Glen Richey Primitive Methodist Church, and a member of the United Mine Workers and the Glen Richey Fire Company. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during WW II.
He is survived by four children, Sheldon Wayne Bloom and his wife Peggy of Glen Richey, Merle Harold Bloom and his wife Linda of Northport, AL, Marylyn Grace Behel and her husband Edward of Glen Richey, and Debra K. Mays and her husband Jerry of Olanta, PA , six grandchildren, Dave Bloom, Shannon Bloom, Jody Bloom, Jayson Mays, Chad Bloom, Scott Bloom, six great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, a brother, Forrest Bloom and his wife Kathy of Olanta, PA, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bloom is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mildred (Thomas) Bloom whom he married on January 4, 1946 and who died on May 11, 1987, a sister, Mildred Ogden, four brothers, Austin, Charles, Clarence and Richard Bloom, and two grandsons, Craig Lee Mays and Alan Wayne Bloom.
Funeral Services will be held at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield on Oct. 22 010 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Duane Stiner officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Olanta, PA.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on October 21 from 5-9:00 p.m. and from Noon until the hour of the services.
