CLEARFIELD – A Glen Richey woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony contraband charges for attempting to sneak drugs into the Clearfield County Jail.

Police say Cassidy Lynn Bowman, 29, lied about having a plastic bag containing 15 Alprazolam pills after she was taken to the jail on a bench warrant for a Centre County case of endangering the welfare of children and a Clearfield County warrant for failing to appear in court.

She was sentenced to 18 months to three years in state prison for one count of contraband/posessession of a controlled substance by inmate and posession of a controlled substance by Judge Paul E. Cherry during sentencing court.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Sept. 15 officers who were aware of the warrants traveled to Bowman’s residence.

When they arrived, she was advised she was wanted by authorities. She claimed she had paid $350 to someone to lift the Clearfield County warrant. The officer confirmed the warrant was still active before he told her they needed to take her into custody.

She asked if she could change her shoes first, but the officer told her she was not permitted to do that. After she was asked if she was concealing anything, she denied possessing any item that would be considered illegal.

While she was being searched at the jail, she was asked numerous times if she had anything on her, but she kept responding that she did not.

A corrections officer found a clear plastic bag with the 15 blue pills in it, in Bowman’s left sock, according to the report.

Online court documents indicate she is also charged in that Centre County case with recklessly endangering another person, accidents involving damage to attended vehicle, driving under the influence and several summaries.
