NEW BETHLEHEM — On Tuesday February 13, the Curwensville Lady Tide wrestling team had the first ever dual meet in school history.

It didn’t really matter that only four of the 13 weight classes were contested, while there were five forfeits and there were four weight classes uncontested entirely.

There can only be one “first”…and this was it for the Curwensville Lady Tide wrestling team.

The final score will go down as 29-24 in favor of the home standing Redbank Valley Lady Bulldogs, as they lost a team point in the actual 30-24 results.

However, the Lady Tide won three out of four matches, all by pin.

Jordin Peoples had the first ever Lady Tide dual meet victory with this fall against RBV

The first ever Lady Tide dual meet victory was recorded by 118 pound freshman Jordin Peoples (5-10 season record) with a 1:42 fall over Alissia Bower.

Junior Tessa Queen (19-10) took over the team lead in wins with a 32 second fall at 148.

170 pound sophomore Emily Neeper (12-9) had the final pin, that being in 1:43.

The final team points were picked up by junior Savannah Harley (2-8) at 142.

The Lady Tide’s full contingent of girls, they’ve had 11 different team members compete this year in eight tournaments, should be ready to go in the first ever PIAA Girls post-season, which starts Saturday February 24 at University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with the District 5/6/9 Championships.
