CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, Ryan Sayers, and board members have announced the relaunch of Clearfield County Crime Stoppers.
Crime Stoppers relies on the support and cooperation between the police, the media and the general public to provide a flow of information about crimes and criminals.
Thanks to the use of DA Drug Forfeiture Funds, the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers were able to purchase large and mediums sized signs to be hung around the county.
These signs will be hung in the coming weeks and have the phone number that people can call to provide information relating to a crime or suspected crime.
Clearfield County Crime Stoppers is a volunteer organization made up of local business, community members and law enforcement that are dedicated to the reduction of crime, prompt solution of crimes and to rewarding individuals who provide information that leads to the arrest of criminals.
Simply put, Crime Stoppers is a group of concerned citizens who gather funds to reward individuals who provide information anonymously to assist law enforcement agencies with unsolved crimes.
Calls to the Crime Stoppers line are received by a call center, which utilizes a No caller ID line and does not record conversations.
A person’s tip information is then forwarded to the proper law enforcement agency. By guaranteeing a caller’s anonymity, if they so choose, Crime Stoppers allows the caller to give information in a safe and protected manner without concern of retribution or retaliation.
By offering cash rewards for information leading to arrests, the program encourages otherwise reluctant callers to provide information.
Tipsters also have the option of providing tips online. The process is completely secure and anonymous and is a very effective and efficient means of safely communicating with us in today’s world.
Online tips can be submitted on the District Attorney’s website at https://clearfieldco.org/district-attorney/clearfield-county-crime-stoppers/ or by phone to 877-927-TIPS (8411).
