DUBOIS – A DuBois woman is facing felony charges for allegedly giving her 12-year-old son methamphetamine on multiple occasions.
DuBois City police were provided information in September that Amanda Dawn Coder, 37, was smoking methamphetamine with her son.
During a home visit with a Children, Youth and Family Services worker, the boy tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the affidavit.
Coder denied knowing where he had gotten any drugs and the boy didn’t say anything.
Two different appointments for a forensic interview at the Clearfield County Child Advocacy Center were cancelled by Coder, who said her son did not want to participate in the process.
In April, police were speaking with Coder regarding an unrelated issue when they asked her again about allowing her son to smoke meth. She then reportedly confessed to allowing him to smoke meth at least seven times over the past year.
Also in April, the boy was discovered to be under the influence of methamphetamine at school. After this, CYS took him into protective custody.
An interview with the boy was held in May and he “disclosed his mother had allowed him to smoke methamphetamine on six different occasions,” according to the complaint.
Coder is charged with felony endangering the welfare of a child and six misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors.
Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 28 during centralized court at District Judge Dave Meholick’s office in DuBois.
