CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough police participated in a safe stop program for school buses recently.
Police Chief Vincent McGinnis reported at Thursday night’s borough council meeting that there were four different incidents where a driver failed to obey and observe traffic rules when a school bus is picking up children.
McGinnis would like to remind residents to err on the side of caution when the school buses are out. Failure to do so can result in a hefty fine and a six-month license suspension.
Also, Nov. 2 is a Drug Take Back Day. Residents who would like to dispose of old medication can do so by dropping off the medications at the borough police department.
Council approved to close a portion of Healey Avenue by the St. Francis School on Oct. 20 or 21 for a food truck festival, as well as to close Leavy Avenue on Veterans Day for the annual ceremony at the Clearfield American Legion.
Residents are reminded that trick-or-treat will be on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This runs along with Lawrence Township’s times for trick-or-treat. Please leave your lights on if you want visited.
Finally, council approved to review the ordinance and fees for mechanical devices in the borough. Mechanical devices include pool tables, jukeboxes, pin ball machines and potentially skill machines.
