JAY TOWNSHIP – A 24-year-old Byrnedale man is in jail after being accused of assaulting a woman.
According to the Ridgway-based state police, an investigation was initiated into domestic violence that happened between Sunday and Tuesday.
The victim told troopers she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend at their Byrnedale residence. During the altercations, he allegedly strangled her to the point she couldn’t breathe and struck her several times.
When she returned home from work Tuesday, she said he threatened to strangle her to death.
State police say the man has been arraigned on charges of strangulation, simple assault and terroristic threats. He was lodged in Elk County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bail.
