JOHNSONBURG — Curwensville Area High School senior Madi Weber is a repeater on the 2018-19 Allegheny Mountain Girls Basketball League All-Star Team announced recently by Johnsonburg athletic director Emily Mitchell.
For the second season in a row, Weber was the Lady Tide’s leading scorer in every game, netting 20 or more 12 times and going over 30 on three occasions.
The 5-11 guard averaged 20.9 points, which ranked second in District 9, with a total of 460 that moved her into second place on Curwensville’s all-time scoring list behind 2015 graduate Ciara Strickland’s 1,525 points.
Weber finished her four-year career with 1,309 points.
She also led the 5-17 Lady Tide in rebounds (166), assists and steals (72) again.
Weber averaged 19.8 points in 10 games against AML opponents.
Kane standout Ella Marconi, a 6-2 senior, was an easy choice by the coaches for the Most Valuable Player Award.
The four-year AML All-Star amassed 634 points, a 22.6 average, to propel the Lady Wolves to the league and District 9 Class AA championships as well as two wins in the PIAA-AA Tournament.
Also named to the All-AML Team for the fourth time was 5-8 senior Cassidy King (15.3 ppg) of Johnsonburg.
Honored for the second season were 5-11 junior Taylor Newton (17.0 ppg) of Elk County Catholic and 5-4 senior Ashley Wruble (7.3 ppg) of DuBois Central Catholic.
First-time selections were 5-3 freshman Danielle Wood (10.0 ppg) of Brockway, 5-8 senior Lindsay Kocjancic and 5-4 junior Maria Jones of Johnsonburg, 5-5 senior Sady VanAlstine of Elk County Catholic and 5-4 senior Hannah Buhl of Kane.
