CLEARFIELD – After a brief executive session at Tuesday’s meeting, the Lawrence Township Supervisors voted to accept the union-negotiated contract for the road crew.

The two-year contract will include a 40-cent per hour increase each year across the board for the full-time employees and will take effect beginning in 2019.

The supervisors also approved applying for three grants. The first is a multi-modal transportation grant through the state Department of Transportation for reconstruction of a portion of Industrial Park Road.

The amount being applied for is $967,590 and the township would need to provide a 35 percent match. The grants will be awarded in July and if the township receives a grant the money would be part of the 2020 budget.

The other two grants are through the Clearfield County Conservation District’s Dirt and Gravel program. The first is through the low-volume grant program to cut trees and daylight Carbon Mine Road. The amount requested is $7,500.

The other grant is a traditional dirt and gravel grant for Log Cabin Road. Neither of these will require a match unless the township decides to install pipe on Log Cabin Road and then there would be a small match required.

Winter road material bids were opened and the bids awarded to Bucktail Excavators. Their bid for 1,200 ton (more or less) of 6S anti-skid was $17.23 per ton and for 2,000 ton (more or less) 67 limestone was $17.25 per ton.

Bids for a heating system for the township building have been advertised and will be opened at the Dec. 4 meeting.

The supervisors also scheduled meetings for the budget—Nov. 14 at 9 a.m. and Nov. 15 at 2 p.m.
