BETHANY, W.Va. — Freshman goalkeeper Madi Jones (Clearfield) was the beneficiary when the Penn State Behrend defense didn’t allow any shots by Franciscan (Ohio) for a 3-0 shutout in an Allegheny Mountain Athletic Conference game moved from Steubenville, Ohio, because of the weather Saturday.
The Lions had to wait out several delays before recording their fourth consecutive AMCC win that dropped Franciscan to 3-1.
Jones was in goal for 88:06 minutes before being replaced by Dana DiCamillo, and senior midfielder Tessa Munshower (Clearfield) also saw action in her fifth appearance for the 6-6 Lions.
Earlier in the week, Jones recorded a career-high nine saves, but Penn State Behrend got off only two shots and was nipped 1-0 by No. 12-ranked Carnegie Mellon at Pittsburgh.
