CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Historical Society will hold its 63rd annual dinner on Thursday, Oct. 25 at St. Timothy’s Church Hall in Curwensville.

Social hour will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner following at 6:45 p.m. Dinner will be catered by Luigi’s Ristorante of Dubois.

This year’s dinner sponsors are CBT, a division of Riverview Bank, and Bee Kind Winery.

Following dinner, the society officers will present annual awards to honor the volunteers who help to staff the Kerr House museum during visitation hours and those who participate in local historical research and work projects.

This year’s guest speaker will be Rebecca Inlow of Osceola Mills.  Inlow has recently authored the highly acclaimed local historical book, The Rowland Story: From Ashes to Beauty.

Her book traces the life story of Charles Rowland of Houtzdale and Philipsburg, as a business, civic and community leader.  His namesake, the Rowland Theatre of Philipsburg, last year celebrated its century mark to honor its opening in 1917.

Inlow traces the theater’s history from its beginnings through its heyday and its fall into disrepair in the 1970.  She then gives concentration to its rescue and restoration by a community volunteer group and its placement on the National Register of Historic Places.

Today, Inlow is an integral part of the volunteer effort that continues to operate the community landmark.

The dinner’s cost is $25 per person.  Invitations have been sent to society members. Others wishing to make a reservation are welcome to do so by calling the society’s Alexander Research Center at 814-768-7318 or by mailing payment to CCHS, 511 Val Valzah Ave., Clearfield PA 16830.  Reservations must be made by Wednesday, Oct. 18.
