WEST DECATUR – Work to replace a small bridge on Old Erie Pike (Route 2024) with a large pipe is scheduled to begin Monday, September 17, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Friday.

The existing bridge spans Simeling Run, about five miles west of the village of West Decatur in Clearfield County.

Crews will be replacing the small bridge with 32 feet of concrete pipe. Replacing the bridge will remove it from the list of Clearfield County bridges in “poor” condition. An average of 570 vehicles use the bridge daily.

During the project, motorists will follow a detour using Old Erie Pike (Route 2024), Drane Highway (Route 2051) and Morgan Run Road (Route 2007).

The detour will be in effect until completion of the project, which is set for early October. This work was originally scheduled to begin Sept. 10 but was delayed due to weather.

All work is weather and schedule dependent. A crew from PennDOT Clearfield County Maintenance will perform all work for this project.
