Paving on Howard Divide Road slated to begin Tuesday
PHILIPSBURG – As work to improve more than 41 miles of roadway in Centre and Clinton counties continues, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is issuing an update on its project schedule.
Overall work includes milling, base repair, resurfacing, curbing, sidewalks and guide rail updates on sections of seven routes in Centre County and five in Clinton County.
In Centre County, work through late-September is now scheduled as follows:
- Sunday, Sept. 16 through Friday, Sept. 21, the contractor will perform paving on Route 322 in the Philipsburg area (Centre Street to the old PSP Barracks). This work will take place during nighttime hours—6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Drivers could encounter delays with an alternating traffic patterns enforced by roadway flaggers. Please allow for extra travel time. Once paving is complete, the contractor will complete any needed driveway adjustments. Depending on weather, paving operations could be extended.
- Tuesday, Sept. 18 through Friday, Sept. 21, the contractor is scheduled to begin paving operations on Route 1001 (Howard Divide Road) beginning at the Route 150 intersection and continuing to Marsh Creek Road.
Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. is the contractor on this $6.8 million project, which is expected to finish by late October. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
