CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre Inc. (CAST) will host a concert to benefit local singer, songwriter and musician Elmira Hope on Sept. 30.

Steve Albert, concert organizer and CAST president, says that Elmira recently performed for the American Idol talent scouts in Pittsburgh.

She received a “yellow ticket” to move on and perform on the popular television show.

Elmira traveled to Chicago, Ill., on Sept. 11, where she sang for producers. She was chosen to move on to the competition.  In a few weeks, Elmira will perform in New York City for the show’s celebrity judges.

Albert says it is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure for Elmira. However, her travels have become costly.  He went on to say that CAST wants to keep with its mission and promote community interest in the arts.

The benefit ‘Friends of Elmira’ concert will be held in the CAST auditorium to help Elmira fulfill her dream.

Several local musicians will perform, and donations will be collected to encourage and inspire Elmira.

The cover charge will be $5 for a seat to see the next potential American Idol perform live on stage.

Seating is limited, however. Doors will open at 7 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m.
