Thomas L. Young, 75, of Clearfield went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center. He was born July 11, 1937 in St. Mary’s, a son of the late Charles and Mary (Andrus) Young.
Mr. Young retired from DuPont Electronics, Clearfield, in December of 1991 after 22.5 years of service. Prior to that, he had been employed by Seel Tool and Die and Pure Carbon, both of St. Marys.
Mr. Young was very fond of the outdoors spending time hunting, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed woodworking. Mr. Young was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He is survived by his wife, Judith A. (Mohr) Young, whom he wed Sept. 8, 1962 in St. Marys; a daughter, Beth Ann O’Shell of Syracuse, NY; three grandchildren, Wallace Kowalski Jr. and Sean and Shannon O’Shell; six sisters, Virginia Lahr and Mary Lou Williams, both of California, Carol Meredith of Bradford, Agnes Sample of Curwensville, Linda Pederson of Brownsburg, IN and Irene Haller of Ohio; two brothers, Frank Young of DuBois and George Young of St. Marys; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracey Elliott; his son, Travis Young; and eight brothers, Charles Jr., David, Ronald, Ralph, Mark, Robert, Bradford and Merlin Young.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with Dr. Duane A. White officiating. Burial will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW posts’ honor guard.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. -8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
