Thompson Issues Statement on MLK Day, 57th Presidential Inauguration

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Howard, released the following statement in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the 57th Presidential Inauguration:

Today we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and honor his courage and conviction to stand dedicated to the cause of justice and freedom. We honor through service Dr. King and other civil rights leaders for their work to push the nation beyond injustice, and to embrace the cause of equality, which is fitting as we celebrate the second inauguration of our nation’s first African American President.

“Our country is great because elections are celebrated in peaceful transition, rather than bloodshed, as today all Americans, despite political differences, unite around the fundamental foundations of our Republic and celebrate the inauguration of the 44th President. My wife Penny and I wish 5th District residents and all Americans the very best on this special day.”
