Two injured after Six-vehicle Accident in Rush Township

RUSH TOWNSHIP – Six vehicles were involved in an accident that occurred at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday along U.S. Route 322 in Rush Township, reported the Philipsburg-based state police.

A tractor-trailer operated by Jacek Serowik, 44, of Mount Prospect, Ill., was traveling westbound near Sandy Ridge Road when he approached stopped traffic due to another accident. He failed to observe this and swerved; however, he struck a vehicle operated by Karen Gill, 43, of Curwensville. The Gill vehicle was subsequently forced off the roadway.

Serowik steered back into the westbound lane, where he struck a pick-up truck driven by Ronald Gill, 44, of Curwensville. The Gill pick-up struck another vehicle operated by James Lowman, 64, of Brookville. The Lowman vehicle was then forced into another operated by Andrew Evans, 18, of Osceola Mills. The Evans vehicle was forced into another driven by Carole Womer, 40, of Philipsburg.

Serowik and Lowman were transported to the Mount Nittany Medical Center. Serowik sustained minor injuries, while Lowman’s injuries were listed as moderate by state police. All operators were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. Serowik will be cited for careless driving and driving vehicle at a safe speed.

State police were assisted by the Moshannon Valley and Port Matilda EMS and the Price Parkway and Dunlap towing companies.
