CLEARFIELD – A Philipsburg man waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday at Clearfield County Centralized Court.
Clair Welder, 63, decided against having a hearing on charges including aggravated assault, terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person.
The charges were filed against Welder after he allegedly held a loaded pistol to the head of a 35-year-old Houtzdale man on Saturday afternoon. The Houtzdale man was able to take the gun from Welder.
Court documents show that the incident reportedly happened while at Welder’s Decatur Township home at about 4 p.m.
After the alleged pistol incident, Welder reportedly left his home and then returned and threatened the other man with a loaded shotgun.
Welder remains in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $10,000 straight bail.
