Ida Louise “Peg” Walls, 81, of Philipsburg died Friday at her residence.
Born on July 31, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruth (Wise) Hessong. Mrs. Walls was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Philipsburg, where she formerly served as the secretary and treasurer.
She worked briefly years ago at Ibberson’s Drug Store, Philipsburg. She primarily assisted her husband in the daily operation of their business, Shamrock Cleaners, in Philipsburg. She was a 1947 graduate of the Philipsburg High School.
On Nov. 7, 1950 she wed her husband, Edward F. Walls Sr. at the Grace United Methodist Church, Philipsburg. He survives her at home. She is survived by one son, Edward F. Walls Jr. and his wife, Tammy of Philipsburg.
She is survived by four sisters, Jean McCully of Carlisle; Helen Folmar and her husband. Robert of Kylertown; Lois Johnson of Philipsburg; and Betty Sabol and her husband, George Jr. of Morrisdale and one brother Merle Hessong and his wife, Bonnie of Philipsburg.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Edward F. Walls III and Emily R. Walls, both of Philipsburg; James R. Whited Jr. of Williamsport; and Christine Whited of Clearfield; one son-in-law, James R. Whited Sr. of Clearfield and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Walls was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Harry, Billy and Don Hessong; and one daughter, Linda Whited.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg, with the Rev. Mark Thumma officiating. Interment will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, 912 Pine St., Philipsburg, PA 16866, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
