CLEARFIELD — The Bison football underclassmen posted their third consecutive shutout and fifth in seven games when they whitewashed the Juniata Indians 40-0 Monday night at the Bison Sports Complex.
The Bisons got on the board quickly when running back Christian Lezzer zig-zagged for a 43-yard touchdown run on the opening drive of the game. Coleman Kubala split the uprights for the early 7-0 lead.
Later in the first quarter fellow running back Dylan Graham sped past the Indian defenders on a 40-yard run to set the score at 13-0.
Clearfield was handed a gift score in the second quarter when the Juniata long snapper sailed one over the punter’s head and out of the endzone for a safety.
The Bisons were able to put another one in before halftime when Lezzer, now playing quarterback in the “Wildcat” formation, ran for a 10-yard score to make it 21-0 at the break.
The third quarter was much of the same as Graham tacked on his second scoring run when he took off for a 60-yarder.
After Coleman Kubala recovered a fumble, quarterback Tyler Woomer hit Graham with a 33-yard pass for Graham’s third touchdown on the night to make it 33-0.
The final score for the Bisons came with1:45 left in the game when Mike Trude sprinted down the right sideline for a 64-yard touchdown run.
The JV Bisons will try to put the finish to an undefeated season when they travel to Central to take on the Dragons on Monday November 1.
