CURWENSVILLE – It’s that time of year again. Merchants in Curwensville are gearing up for the annual Home for the Holidays event throughout Curwensville.
Events are still being added to the schedule, which can be found at www.curwensvillemerchants.com, but there are new events as well as those visitors look forward to year after year.
The dates for Home for the Holidays are Nov. 8-10, although some merchants are kicking things off early. For example, The Strawberry Tree Shop & Tea Room will hold an open house from Nov. 6-11, and other merchants will hold specials throughout the week.
On Thursday the United Methodist Church will have a craft show and lunch, which will continue into Friday.
Curwensville Christian Church will be hosting a family movie night Thursday with a showing of VeggieTales’ “Celery Night Fever” beginning at 6:30 p.m. The evening will include snacks and crafts as well.
If singing is more your style, town-wide caroling will be held, benefiting the Curwensville Ministerium Fuel Fund.
Friday evening is the annual wine walk. Benefiting the local Knights of Columbus, the wine walk features wine sampling from local wineries at various merchants throughout the downtown.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the night of the event, and it begins at 5 p.m. Tickets will only be sold to those age 21 and over.
At 6 p.m. the Curwensville Alliance Church will host their model train and village display. The church will also have displays of nativity sets and snacks and other activities on hand.
The church will also be open to visitors Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
On Saturday, visitors can take a trip back in time with horse and carriage rides beginning at the United Methodist Church at a cost of $5 each from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The GFWC Curwensville Women’s Club will hold a craft and yard sale at the Curwensville Community Center from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. There will be refreshments, including Little G’s Pizza and soup for sale.
At 12 p.m., Santa Claus comes to town to kick off the Christmas season when he arrives with the Santa Parade on State Street.
