CLEARFIELD – With a new director in the Clearfield County Tax Assessment and Tax Claims Office comes some changes in procedures for making payments.
Office Director Jennifer Wooster announced the changes at the Clearfield County Commissioners work session of Tuesday.
As of Jan. 2, cash payments will no longer be accepted. Wooster said that checks and money orders will be accepted. She said the practice of not accepting cash is a growing trend in tax claims office across the state. She also said that with workers not having to handle money, the county’s insurance rates will go down.
She said her office researched accepting credit cards, but that it was too costly.
“It would decrease our revenue,” said Wooster.
