William T. Whitmyer, 70, of DuBois died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Whitmyer was born Sept. 1, 1942 in Williamsport, the son of Meryl C. and R. Lucille (Lacey) Whitmyer.
He was a graduate of Renovo High School.
Mr. Whitmyer was a diesel mechanic for Beckwith Machinery in Clearfield for 28 years.
He was Methodist by faith.
Mr. Whitmyer was a member of the Swedish American Club, Olympic American Club, I.P.S. Club, Garfield Masonic Lodge, holding a 32nd degree, Coudersport Consistory, Shriners, National Rifle Association and Middleridge Sportsmen’s Club.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam era and served on the USS KIOWA. He was a lifetime member and past commander of the DuBois VFW and Sykesville American Legion.
Mr. Whitmyer enjoyed guns, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Beverley J. (Snyder) Whitmyer, four children, Meryl C. Whitmyer and his wife, Terri and William T. Whitmyer Jr., and his wife, Waynette, all of Greenville; Beverly J. Brown and her husband, Kirby of DuBois; and Barbara LaRotonda and her husband, Ronald of Treasure Lake; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Estella Stasiowski and her husband, Stan of Brockway; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Whitmyer was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Meryl Whitmyer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mohney and Yargar Funeral Chapel Inc., of DuBois with Pastor James Green officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the DuBois Honor Guard. Interment will be in Beechwoods Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday at the funeral home. The Garfield Lodge #559 F&AM will conduct a masonic service at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
