MORRIS TOWNSHIP – A Houtzdale man faces charges for the alleged sexual abuse of an eight-year-old girl in 2013.
Vincent Emery Spencer, 46, is charged by Clearfield state police with felony aggravated indecent assault (two counts), unlawful contact with a minor-sexual abuse of children (two counts) and aggravated indecent assault without consent (two counts), plus related offenses.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, a trooper was assigned the ChildLine investigation Aug. 11, 2022 and a forensic interview was conducted Aug. 16, 2022 at the Child Advocacy Center of Clearfield County.
The first assault happened at a Morris Township home when Spencer “suddenly and forcefully” entered the bathroom, reportedly grabbing the victim and “pinning” her against the wall.
She was “afraid and didn’t know what to do,” the victim told investigators, adding she was unable to fight him off and there was no one there to help her.
She said Spencer started touching her inappropriately and though she was crying, he wouldn’t stop. When the assault finally ended, she said he stepped back blocking the bathroom door.
Spencer reportedly wouldn’t let her go anywhere until she was “cleaned up.”
Another time he forced her onto a bed, allegedly assaulting her while covering her mouth so she couldn’t say anything. Afterwards, he took her clothing and threw it out with the trash.
The victim was asked if she was abused by Spencer on any other occasions to which she noted the two assaults, saying she didn’t want to discuss any other times.
Spencer was interviewed twice by state police investigators.
During the first interview Feb. 20, 2023, Spencer denied having ever sexually assaulted the victim.
During the second interview March 6, 2023, he admitted to struggling with drug and alcohol addiction but continued to deny anything inappopriate happened with the victim.
He went on to say if something happened, he didn’t remember and when asked if he was possibly drunk at the time of the assaults, he tried to claim he hadn’t started drinking that heavily yet.
Spencer did admit it was possible something happened, but he wasn’t sure how and if it did actually happen, it had to be when he was taking pain medication that could have caused him to black out.
He claimed “this wasn’t me,” repeatedly saying he didn’t rmemeber it happening but if it did, it had to be while he was on the Oxycontin.
When asked for the odds, Spencer allegedly said “50/50.”
A preliminary hearing date has not yet been set and online court documents list Spencer’s case as inactive.
