CLEARFIELD – A Hyde man who was allegedly found in possession of large amounts of multiple drugs in January was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Friday.
John R. Jefferson II, 38, is charged by Clearfield Regional police with felony delivery of a controlled substance (three counts), misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance (three counts) and misdemeanor use/possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jefferson waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday, sending his case to county court for further disposition. Bail is currently set at $100,000, monetary.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, officers were requested to assist Pennsylvania State Parole agents at approximately 2:21 p.m. Jan. 29 at Jefferson’s Hyde residence.
Jefferson had reportedly advised agents that he had large amounts of methamphetamine, marijuana and ecstasy during a parole supervision visit.
Upon arrival of police, they placed Jefferson in the patrol unit as he was being detained by parole. At this time, he disclosed the drugs could be found in a bucket in the middle bedroom and he wanted to cooperate with their investigation.
Upon location of the bucket and further search of his residence, officers allegedly seized in total: one pound of crystal methamphetamine; one pound of marijuana; 304 ecstasy pills; and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
In an interview with police, Jefferson said he was supplied the drugs three months prior and already distributed about 15 or 16 ounces of crystal methamphetamine.
He admitted it was wrong but also easy to return to this lifestyle that he’s tried to “escape” from. He said he sold the crystal methamphetamine for $600 per ounce.
When asked about cash, Jefferson said he was “fronted” the product and so it was used to pay his supplier.
Jefferson was subsequently housed in county jail following the interview on a parole detainer.
In a second case, Jefferson is charged by Punxsutawney state police with felony delivery of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, which he also waived to county court. For this, bail is $25,000, monetary.
