CLEARFIELD – A local man apprehended on an active warrant is facing contraband charges, Clearfield Regional police say.
According to a department-issued news release, police were requested to assist the Clearfield County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Jan. 30 in the 300-block of South Fourth Street in Clearfield.
It was reported that a known 26-year-old male had failed to provide veterinarian care for a dog in his possession. The dog was seized during a search of the residence, then turned over to SPCA staff for evaluation.
Police also located 39-year-old Michael A. Cole of Clearfield, who was wanted by the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken to county jail where he was allegedly caught hiding a methamphetamine/PCP mixture.
Cole is charged with felony contraband/controlled substance, as well as misdemeanor possession of controlled substance and use/possession drug paraphernalia (two counts).
Bail is currently $25,000, monetary and Cole will appear for a preliminary hearing Wednesday, Feb. 7 during centralized court.
The animal neglect investigation is still ongoing at this time.
