CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield school board voted on Monday night to adopt a bond resolution for proposed building updates at the Clearfield County Career & Technology Center.
Planned updates include replacement of the school’s heating/cooling system and relic hot water heater from the 1960’s, as well as other much-needed capital projects.
The school’s Joint Operating Committee has already approved the bond resolution, and is now seeking approval from the majority (23 of 45) of board members representing its five sending schools.
The CCCTC “doesn’t have the ability to borrow, or go into that type of bond debt” since it has no taxing ability, explained Superintendent Terry Struble last week.
In addition to Clearfield, the CCCTC’s sending schools include Curwensville, West Branch, Philipsburg-Osceola and Moshannon Valley area junior/senior high schools.
The school expects to borrow approximately $4.1 million, and according to Struble, the district’s CCCTC bond payment will remain about the same as it is currently.
Struble did note the CCCTC’s current bond issue will expire in probably a year or year and a half, and he believes the other sending districts support having the renovation work done.
