CURWENSVILLE — The season of struggles for the Curwensville Lady Tide did not stop them from continuing to take to the court and battle, as they laced up their shoes and took to the hardwood once more inside Patton Hall on Monday night. The opposition on this night, the Lady Hornets from Juniata Valley.
The night ended quickly as the visitors were overpowering against the young Lady Tide, as they would fall in a 56-13 final that went to a running clock in the latter stages of the game.
Curwensville struggled right out the gate as they were unable to attain a basket in the opening quarter. Along with that, Juniata Valley would roar to life as they would put up 22 in the opening eight minutes to take a commanding lead. The Lady Tide would not get their first points until the second quarter, but it was far too gone as the Lady Hornets added another 19. The running clock was ensured to be running the entire second half part way into the quarter, as Juniata Valley took a 41-3 advantage into the locker room.
The Mercy Rule made the second half go by quickly, as Juniata Valley put up only 15 points the remainder of the game.
Kassidy Watson led all scoring as she put up 15 points for the visitors, while Maddie Hopsicker added in another 13. Juniata Valley was also perfect from the foul line, going 7-for-7. For Curwensville, Brooklynn Price led all scoring with seven points.
Sitting at 0-13, there is no time to rest as the Lady Tide are on the road Tuesday evening with a trip to Clarion to face the Lady Wildcats. Tip-off will take place at 6 p.m.
