PENFIELD – Troop 2 Boy Scouts of the Clearfield Presbyterian Church attended summer camp at Camp Mountain Run from Sunday, July 2 through Saturday, July 8.
It started off as a wet week prior to the arrival of hot and humid weather. There were 18 scouts and three leaders who participated in camp activities.
Scouts earned a total of 76 merit badges as well as several awards. These included one honor camper, one honor patrol award, three Iron Scouts and four one-mile swim awards.
Two scouts and two leaders completed the one-mile swim, making the troop the only one at camp to earn the award.
There were 13 polar bear plunge awards and first-, third- and fifth- place finishes in the 3km run.
The troop also had two Order of the Arrow tap-outs, two cope participants, two lifeguard certifications and two trailblazers.
“The weather was a little rough, but that didn’t stop the troop from having a great time at camp,” states Andrew Jenkins, Troop 2 scoutmaster.
The summer camp was possible thanks to the Bucktail Council/Boy Scouts of America.
