FRENCHVILLE – The Mosquito Creek Sportsmen’s Association has announced the winners of its 2022 Coyote Hunt on the association’s official Web site.
John L. Moran III (Washington) harvested the heaviest coyote at 3 a.m. Feb. 20, the closing day of the hunt. It was a 47.85-pound male.
Justin Brantner (Butler) finished in second place with a 47.65-pound male that he killed at 11 p.m. Feb. 19.
And Jason Bumbarger (Clearfield) came in third place with a 46.5-pound female that he killed at 10 a.m. Feb. 18. His dog also won the cash pot for the heaviest female.
The association had 4,262 registered hunters with total prize monies of $42,620.
Fifty percent was divided among all hunters who harvested a coyote. The other $17,048 was divided up 50 percent, 30 percent and 20 percent to the top three place winners.
Moran was awarded $ 8,524 for first place; Brantner, $ 5,114.40 for second place; and Bumbarger, $ 3,409.60 for third place.
Also, Bumbarger received $8,524 for weighing in the heaviest female. With a total of 270 coyotes brought in, prize money of $64 was awarded per dog.
