CLEARFIELD – Police Chief Doug Clark requested use of the meeting room at the Lawrence Township Municipal Building on June 4.
Clark said there will be training for local officers that day from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. on the new TruNarc Handheld Narcotics analyzer.
He said it is currently located at Clearfield Borough, but the meeting room at the township is large enough to accommodate all the officers who will receive training.
According to the Web site www.thermofisher.com, the machine “identifies multiple controlled substances including narcotics, synthetic drugs, cutting agents and precursor chemicals in a single test, without direct contact for most samples.”
In addition to the chief’s request, the supervisors also approved the contract with the Teamsters Union for the police department retroactive to Jan. 1, 2021 through Dec. 31, 2024.
The contract includes a $1 per hour raise the first year and a three percent raise each year after for all full-time employees.
Roadmaster Ron Woodling reported that the inlets for the Hyde project should arrive this week and they plan to start work Thursday. Residents affected have been notified of the planned work.
He also noted that people have been asking about when the Coal Hill Road project will start, and he said that it depends on when the contractor lets the township know they are ready.
The township has been discussing holding a cleanup day and received some information from Mike Boal at Novey Recycling. Secretary Barbara Shaffner said they will need to sit down and create a list of items they will take, and what they can’t, including electronics, chemicals or tires.
The date and comprehensive list will be announced at the next meeting.
