State police at Clearfield
- State police received a report of a theft that occurred between Jan. 23 and Wednesday on Melody Road in Penn Township. According to state police, a Grampian woman was contacted by her bank about possible fraudulent purchases. She said since Jan. 23, there had been $775 worth of fraudulent purchases made on her account.
- State police received a report of theft from a motor vehicle that occurred sometime Feb. 1-2 at the Hill Crest Commons Apartments in Chester Hill Borough. During the incident, someone allegedly stole $279 from a Philipsburg woman’s wallet, which was in the center console of her vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 814-857-3800.
- State police received a report about a Protection from Abuse order violation in progress Wednesday on the Curwensville-Tyrone Highway in Knox Township. The investigation is continuing at this time.
- State police responded to a report of a single-vehicle, hit-and-run crash Wednesday on the Morrisdale-Allport Highway in Morris Township. According to state police, the suspect vehicle was located and after a brief pursuit, a 22-year-old Yardley, Pa., man was taken into custody. He was suspected of driving under the influence; charges are currently pending at this time.
- State police received a report of an incident of disorderly conduct Tuesday on Spring Street in Woodward Township. During the incident, a 41-year-old Madera woman allegedly acted loud and violent towards another customer at the Shop ‘N Save store.
- State police received a report about a burglary that occurred Tuesday on Ridge Avenue Extension in Pike Township. During the incident, someone allegedly entered a Curwensville woman’s home and removed a laptop computer and Roku stick. Then, they fled the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police.
State police at Punxsutawney
- State police received a report about a burglary that occurred Wednesday at a Second Street residence in Henderson Township, Jefferson County. During the incident, someone allegedly forcibly broke into the victim’s home and ransacked it. There weren’t any items stolen, state police say. The investigation is continuing at this time and anyone with information is asked to call 814-938-0510.
- State police received a report about a retail theft that occurred Dec. 14, 2019 at the Wal-Mart store in Punxsutawney. During the incident, a 46-year-old DuBois man allegedly stole 85 containers of various brands of powder baby formula valued at $1,814.83. Charges were subsequently filed through the district court.
Clearfield Borough
- Clearfield Borough police are warning the public of two recent phone scams. In the first scam, police say the caller claimed the victim won a large sum of cash; however, he/she couldn’t receive the winnings without payment of fees totaling $2,500. In the second scam, the caller reportedly posed as a law enforcement officer, advised the victim their vehicle was possibly stolen and attempted to obtain a large payment for he/she to retrieve it. Police urge the public to be cautious in communications with unknown callers who request personal information or payments.
- Police assisted emergency personnel with a mental health patient.
- Police received a report about a pizza delivery driver who was chased by a dog at a local residence. The investigation is continuing at this time.
- Lawrence Township police were assisted with an incident that involved an individual who possessed a knife and who was believed to have thoughts of self-harm. Police took custody of the individual without incident.
- Police responded to a report about a “suspicious, loud bang” in area of Park Avenue. Upon arrival, police searched the area with negative results.
