The American Heart Association (AHA) has announced the students participating in its Queen/King of Hearts program from Clearfield and the surrounding areas.
According to information provided by the AHA, Queen/King of Hearts is a service-oriented and community-based leadership program.
Participants at each school commit to community-based fundraising projects to benefit the AHA and to help further the AHA’s life-saving mission of preventing heart disease and stroke.
Participants will not only raise funds, but will also be tasked with a leadership role to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke, and to encourage adoption of heart-healthy habits and behaviors throughout American Heart Month in February.
According to the AHA, heart disease is the No. 1 killer world-wide, and stroke ranks second globally. And even when those conditions don’t result in death, they cause disability and diminish quality of life.
The AHA wants to see a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Individuals can contact a participating high school to learn more about how they can help.
