DUBOIS – The DuBois Central Catholic (DCC) girls basketball team opened the new year with a very solid 73-32 victory over visiting Curwensville Thursday night.
DCC opened up with an eight point lead after one quarter, 21-13, as the Lady Tide hung around after the first eight minutes.
The Lady Cardinals then took the game over with a 20-4 second quarter outburst to take a commanding 41-17 lead at the intermission.
In the second half DCC outscored Curwensville 32-15 to get the easy win.
Alyssa Bakaysa paced the Curwensville offense with 15 points.
The Lady Cardinals had four girls in double figures as Jordan Kosko and Martina Swallligan each had 18 tallies with Shay Gulvas adding 14 and Faith Jacobs having 11.
In the JV game it was the Lady Tide coming away with a narrow 24-23 victory over DCC.
The Lady Tide (2-4) are on the road again Friday night, this time traveling to Brockway to play the Lady Rovers. Junior varsity starts at 6 pm, with the varsity game to immediately follow.
