CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield teen has been accused of assaulting an adult probation officer earlier this week at the Clearfield County Courthouse.

Elizabeth J. Evans, 18, has been charged by Assistant Chief Nathan Curry of the Clearfield Borough police with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault and disorderly conduct and summary harassment.

Evans was arraigned Tuesday morning, and remains incarcerated in the Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. She’s scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. Dec. 11 during centralized court at the jail.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Monday morning, Evans met with the officer and afterwards, she was told she was free to go. The officer directed Evans to go ahead of her, and she would lead her out.

The officer said Evans, however, wanted to walk behind her, and she told Evans that she prefers not to have people behind her. She directed Evans to go first again, which she said only made Evans approach her in an “aggressive” manner.

She said she was pushed backwards into a large bookshelf and a scuffle ensued. Evans then allegedly bit the officer in her right forearm, leaving teeth marks and saliva on her coat. Teeth marks were also observed on the officer’s forearm, police said.

Because the officer wasn’t near her handcuffs, she said she had to yell for assistance. Evans was eventually cuffed once other officers came in, but she reportedly still attempted to bite and kick them.

During her transport to the jail, Evans attempted to spit on probation officers but was unable to due to the cage that separated the front and back seats, according to the affidavit.
