CLEARFIELD – A receiver has finally been appointed by Clearfield County President Judge Fredric Ammerman for Crown Crest Cemetery.

During Tuesday’s Lawrence Township meeting, Solicitor James Naddeo announced that Dan Hile had been appointed as the receiver for the cemetery until a non-profit can be organized to take over operations of the cemetery.

The supervisors thanked all of the volunteers who stepped up over the summer to help maintain the cemetery, adding that their help is still needed in the coming months and beginning with clearing decorations in preparation for the winter season. Other help would also be needed in the future.

The road crew was also thanked for their help in doing some repairs on the road in the cemetery.

Naddeo also had information regarding the tax appeals for Wal-Mart and Wolf River Run Associates LLC.

He reported that an agreement was reached between Wal-Mart and the Clearfield Area School District regarding the assessment of the Wal-Mart property. The current assessment is $8,418,400, but the district settled for an assessment value of $6,613,000.

Naddeo said the county was also going to accept the agreement, and the township had the option of continuing the appeal; however, it would cost money and he recommended approving it as well, which the supervisors did.

Regarding Wolf River Run, Naddeo said a hearing has been scheduled for December.

The supervisors also ask residents to be patient with leaf collection. The new leaf truck has not been delivered yet and the township has been borrowing the old machine from Curwensville.

If possible, residents are asked to bag leaves in biodegradable bags or to take them to the compost site.

Under Code Enforcement, the supervisors approved the special Act 537 plan for Clearfield Municipal Authority to take over the sewer lines for the township and Clearfield Borough.
