CURWENSVILLE – At a special meeting earlier this week, the Curwensville Borough Council named an “Officer in Charge.”

According to an e-mail, the council voted to designate Patrolman Joe Witherite as Officer in Charge and to handle the day-to-day business of the department.  Mark Kelly will remain patrolman.

Council members expressed their concerns over the scheduling of the police, saying they expected some level of coverage every day.

According to the e-mail, in past schedules there have been too many days with no coverage. Council members also informed the mayor of their expectations of him and his conduct toward council and other borough employees in the future.
