CLEARFIELD – A Morrisdale man pleaded guilty in court Monday to stabbing a man almost a dozen times in April in Burnside Township.

Lonnie Ranger Schmoke Jr., 27, was sentenced by President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman to two to four years in state prison for aggravated assault, terroristic threats and simple assault.

He was also ordered to complete anger management counseling.

Schmoke, according to the affidavit, threatened the victim with a pocket knife by saying: “I will stab you.” after the victim argued with Schmoke’s mother.

He then lunged at the victim who “bear hugged” Schmoke in an attempt to protect himself and fight Schmoke off. Schmoke then began repeatedly stabbing the victim in his lower back.

When the victim fell to the floor, police say Schmoke struck him in the back with his knee or foot, causing the victim’s face to be shoved into a wall.

Schmoke then fled the scene.

A neighbor later told investigators that as Schmoke was fleeing, he looked at her and stated: “I stabbed him.”

The victim suffered 10 to 11 stab wounds of one to two inches long and up to three inches deep, a laceration to his left forearm, a scratch to the left side of his face, an abrasion to his forehead and two broken ribs, according to the report.
