CLEARFIELD – Due to the recent retirement of Greg Neeper from the department, the Clearfield Borough police presented three officers for promotion at Thursday night’s council meeting.

Nathan Curry was promoted to assistant chief, Daniel Podliski was promoted to sergeant and Shawn Fye was promoted to corporal.

Council members congratulated the three on their promotions and their service to the borough.

The council also covered several other items of business.

A new council member was appointed to the Second Ward to fill the term of Heather Bozovich, who recently resigned. Council appointed Mason Strouse to the seat.

Under public safety, council voted to lease two tasers. Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott noted that two other tasers will need to be replaced.

Council also voted to permit traffic control Sept. 1 for the Tour de Susquehanna, to close streets within the Driving Park for the Central Mountain Region Antique and Custom Auto Show Aug. 18, approved the closure of East Pine Street from Second to Third streets for a joint church street picnic Aug. 11 and also approved closing Cherry Street from Front to Second streets Aug. 6 for National Night Out.

During his report, Code Enforcement Officer Larry Mack said he has been receiving a large number of complaints regarding excessive dog barking and he will be enforcing the stipulations under the new ordinance.
