CURWENSVILLE – It was a home field doubleheader sweep for the Curwensville High School girls softball team on Tuesday against the Lady Wolverines of Sheffield.
The Lady Tide left no doubt as to who was the better team as it won game one 18-0, then came back and blasted the Lady Wolverines in game two, 30-0.
Undoubtedly a long trip back home for Sheffield.
The 30 runs tallied by the Lady Tide in game two is the most runs scored by an Allen Leigey coached squad.
Curwensville put the first contest away with an 11 run second inning after crossing home plate seven times in the first frame.
In the first game, freshman pitcher Joslynne Freyer picked up the win on a three inning no hitter while going three for three at the plate that included a second inning solo home run along with two doubles and four RBI’s.
Centerfielder Taylor Luzier also knocked in four runs for the Lady Tide, going three for three with two triples.
Curwensville’s Logan Sheeder and Mackenzie Wall joined the three hit club in game one, with each smacking a double.
Catcher Bailey Bloom hit a triple and Kelsey Bumbarger a double as the Lady Tide had a total of nine extra base hits.
Lauren Tozer and Bella Guthrie joined the hit barrage with two each for Curwensville.
Every Lady Tide who batted had at least one hit and one RBI in game one.

Curwensville was the visiting team in game two and wasted no time in putting this one in the win column with a 15 run second inning that came after a nine run first inning in the 30-0 crushing of the Lady Wolverines.
Of the 25 hits the Lady Tide picked up in the victory 13 were of the extra base type as Curwensville blasted 11 doubles and two triples.
Eleven players went to the plate in the second game for he Tide and all 11 each had at least one hit and 10 of those also had one or more RBI’s.
Abby Pentz and Bailey Bloom led the Lady Tide with four hits apiece, with Pentz having three doubles and Bloom picking up two.
Winning pitcher, again, Joslynne Freyer and left fielder Ariel Zattoni each picked up three hits that included a double for both.
Other Lady Tide with doubles were Bella Guthrie, Ally Hess, Logan Sheeder and Lauren Tozer.
Hitting triples for Curwensville were Tozer and Taylor Luzier.
Sheeder, Tozer, Alyssa Bakaysa and Luzier had two hits each.
In the RBI department Freyer had five while Pentz knocked in four teammates.
Bloom, Tozer and Zattoni all had three RBI’s in the one sided slugfest.
The Lady Wolverines did manage two hits in the second game as Ashley Frederick and Kennidee Confer each had a single.
The Lady Tide are now 5-2 on the year and are once again home, on Thursday, at 4:15 pm against Johnsonburg.
