CLEARFIELD – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will begin bridge repair and preservation work Monday, April 15 on eight I-80 structures near DuBois.
Next week, drivers will encounter alternating lane closures during daylight hours between mile marker 98, near the Falls Creek exit and mile marker 102, east of the DuBois exit.
The lane restrictions will be in place on eastbound and westbound lanes of I-80.
During the week of April 22, long-term lane closures of the right (travel) lane will be in place eastbound and westbound at mile marker 98.5. This will include a 12-foot width restriction between exits 97 at Falls Creek and 101 at DuBois.
Overall work will include wing stem replacement, concrete repairs, approach slab replacement, beam end repair and miscellaneous construction. Work is expected to last into November.
Swank Construction Inc. of New Kensington, Pa., is the contractor for this $6 million project. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
Motorists should be alert for message boards and advance signing that notifies them of lane restrictions and the potential for slowed traffic. PennDOT reminds drivers to use caution in all work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
