CLEARFIELD – Paving and stone bids were opened during Tuesday’s Lawrence Township Supervisors meeting, and the supervisors heard an update on the new township Web site.
Supervisor Jeremy Ruffner said the new Web site, lawrencepa.gov, is up and running. Right now, it has basic information and Ruffner said he hopes to add more to it as time passes.
He gave a demonstration on his computer, showing the other supervisors and public some of the features of the Web site.
Under the government section, viewers can see pictures of the supervisors and staff, meeting minutes from 2016 to the most recent, Act 13 information and a place to send a report on problems.
There are links to emergency services, code and zoning, sewer and water, the various boards such as the zoning hearing board or recreation board and so on.
Ruffner added the Community Reporting System isn’t live yet, but it will allow visitors to the Web site to sign up for e-mail and text alerts for the township, such as road closures or schedule changes.
There is also a section being worked on that will include information on the community as a whole, such as a list of churches, news, jobs and so on.
“I want to make sure the first impression people get is a good one,” Ruffner said of the Web site.
He added that if visitors see a mistake or missing information, he welcomes feedback so that he can improve the Web site.
Police Chief Doug Clark noted he is looking forward to being able to use the police section to post statistics each month and also messages to the community from the police.
The supervisors opened bids for the summer paving project on Parker Road (T-119) and Morrison Road (T-612). Five bids were received and the low bid is from Glenn O. Hawbaker at $179,781.95.
Bids for 2RC limestone were also opened for 1,000 ton more or less and the low bidder out of three was Bucktail Excavators at $11.98 per ton.
Roadmaster Ron Woodling cautioned the supervisors about the bid, saying they should accept it but that when the company submitted a bid for 6S stone, they bid low and then the company they were getting the stone from ran out and they had to get more expensive stone and tried to charge the township the difference.
Supervisor Randy Powell noted that if it happens again, Bucktail has to abide by the bid price.
The supervisors also reminded Woodling that if what is delivered isn’t good or what is expected, he can send it back and insist they deliver quality stone. The supervisors then accepted the low bid.
Woodling announced that Riverview Road will be closed for three to four hours April 8 to replace a storm drain near the Hyde Wesleyan Church. The closure will begin around 9 a.m.
Code enforcement reminds residents that permits are needed to install a pool 24 inches in height or higher, and there are other code requirements, such as fencing.
