For the second year in a row, Penn Highlands Healthcare is asking for the region’s participation in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s #GivingTuesday will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 27, and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back, according to Penn Highlands Healthcare’s System Fund Development Director Karin Pfingstler.
“#GivingTuesday is a celebration of America’s greatest traditions: generosity, entrepreneurialism and community,” Pfingstler said. “Everyone has something to give, whether it’s time or expertise, monetary donations large or small, simple acts of kindness or volunteerism.”
This year, Penn Highlands Healthcare is asking individuals to participate in the 24 hours of giving by becoming a volunteer, joining one of its four auxiliaries or by making a donation to one of its hospitals through its Annual Giving Campaign.
“Our area is home to a very unique set of patient needs, including services to support our aging seniors, life-saving screenings for cardiac and lung diseases, treatments in response to the growing opioid crisis, leading-edge advancements in mammography and the best emergency care and cardiac intervention,” Pfingstler said.
“For every medical need, the residents of our region deserve the best. We are constantly striving to make improvements to our technology, equipment and our facilities, and we are proud to work hand in hand with grateful patients, families and community partners to continue strengthening a healthcare system that is there for all of us when we need it most.”
Proceeds from this year’s Annual Giving Campaign will support each hospital as follows:
- Penn Highlands Brookville: Patient Room Furniture?;
- Penn Highlands Clearfield: Emergency Room Stretchers;
- Penn Highlands DuBois: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Infant Omni Beds;
- Penn Highlands Elk: Wheelchairs for Transporting Patients.
Other ways to make a difference include:
- Be a volunteer at one of the hospital locations;
- Join one of the hospital auxiliaries;
- Include the health system in planned giving;
- Remember a loved one through memorials to Penn Highlands Healthcare;
- Attend a special event and fundraiser.
