DECATUR TOWNSHIP – Clearfield-based state police are probing a hit-and-run crash and possible arson.
The crash occurred Tuesday on Ashland Road, north of Red Schoolhouse Road, in Decatur Township.
According to state police, the driver left the roadway and hit a Verizon utility pole and trees. Then, they fled the scene.
Upon arrival on-scene, troopers saw the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. Its registration plate and items from inside had been removed before the fire.
State police believe the vehicle is a full-sized black Ford F150 with a ladder rack attached to its bed near the tailgate.
State police also believe it’s a model from 1996 – 2003 with rust around its rear wheel wells.
A state police fire marshal is assisting troopers with this investigation.
