CLEARFIELD – Tuesday evening, Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson was elected to serve as U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional District by an overwhelming margin.
Thompson, 59, of Howard Township, Centre County, was joined by family, friends and supporters for a victory party in Clearfield.
After learning of the incoming election results, Thompson addressed the crowd:
“Thank you for using your vote to defend the great American comeback. I am humbled by the support of each and every one of you. We have four new counties in the district and I am very appreciative of the warm welcome I have received and the friends we have made along the way in Butler, Armstrong, Indiana and Cambria.
“Like my pledge to Clearfield and the other counties throughout the district, my commitment to the constituents remains: I will work hard, show up and be accountable.”
Thompson continued: “Tonight’s victory was possible because you have allowed me to take your homegrown solutions to Washington.
“We have been effective at expanding services for our veterans and active duty troops. We have been effective at restoring the rungs on the ladder of opportunity for job seekers, through modernizing career and technical education.
“And together, we have been able to deliver on lower taxes, higher wages and a better economy for Pennsylvania’s families.
“But we are not done yet. There are many challenges ahead and we must continue to work in a positive manner and keep this country on track.
“Together I know we can continue to make a difference in the upcoming 116th Congress.”
