Curwensville Borough
- Police received a report about a motor vehicle crash near the Rails to Trails pull-off along Route 879. Upon arrival, police found the driver wasn’t around the vehicle. Further investigation revealed it had struck the curb somewhere in Curwensville Borough; this caused the driver to lose control and strike the guiderails. Clearfield Borough police were requested to assist with locating the driver who was found at an East End residence.
- Police received a report about an incident of theft on Pennsylvania Avenue. During the incident, someone allegedly stole the victim’s decorative Halloween projection light. It was used to project ghosts onto the residence; anyone with information is asked to contact police.
- Police received a complaint after a suspicious phone call was received at a Sunset Lane residence. According to police, a male – who appeared to be foreign speaking – made an unknown comment on the answering machine. There wasn’t a phone number provided to police for a follow-up. Anyone who receives a similar phone call is asked to contact police.
- Police received a report about a suspicious person driving a moped in the Filbert Street area. However, they fled prior to police arrival.
- Lawrence Township police were assisted with the issuance of warrants. During a traffic stop conducted by township officers, it was learned both the driver and passenger held warrants through the Curwensville police and Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office. Police took the female passenger to county jail on her warrants while the male’s warrants were due to his failure to respond; he was released upon receipt of his plea.
- Police assisted a disabled motorist along State Street. According to police, the driver ran out of gas and also had a dead battery. Police were assisted by the Rescue Hose & Ladder Co. and a local garage.
- Police assisted a Lippert Street resident with unlocking her vehicle.
- While on routine patrol, police observed a male walking in between residences and vehicles in the Susquehanna Avenue area. When an attempt was made to speak with him, he reportedly fled and he wasn’t located. Police would like to remind residents to keep their homes and vehicles secured.
- Police received a report about someone attempting to gain entry to a residence on Grandview Avenue. During the incident, the homeowner heard pounding and pulling on her doors in the early-morning hours. She believed her dog possibly scared the person(s) away.
- Police responded to a 911 hang-up call at a Center Street residence. Upon arrival, a female related that she thought her boyfriend was having a stroke. However, he fled prior to police arrival. Curwensville Ambulance personnel were summoned to assist with attempting to locate the male in the event he was suffering from a medical emergency. Police indicated that the search was unsuccessful in their report.
DuBois City
- Police received a report about an unruly male Tuesday on East Weber Avenue. Upon arrival on-scene, police saw an argument had broken out among several people. Police say John C. Runyon III was “extremely irate” and when an attempt was made to calm him down, he became combative with officers. He was subdued and arrested for terroristic threats, simple assault and disorderly conduct. Runyon was lodged in county jail in lieu of bail.
- On Tuesday police received a report about an incident of fraud in the 500 block of Locust Street. During the incident, someone allegedly made five transactions on a business account. Police are continuing their investigation.
- On Tuesday police were requested to assist the Pennsylvania State Police with a runaway juvenile. He wasn’t located initially but later arrived at the city police station. He was subsequently released to PSP.
- Police received a report about a credit card scam Wednesday. According to police, a male received a call that appeared to have been from Wal-Mart. The caller tried to persuade him to make a “small change” on his credit card. In return, he would receive a $200 gift card by mail. Police would like to remind residents not to provide any personal information out over the phone.
