CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Municipal Authority held a short meeting Tuesday and discussed several items of regular business.

Manager John Williams reported on a quote for field software from Field Hawk to be used by the crews.

It connects to the main office in real time, updating where problem areas are, what has recently been repaired, etc. He said the cost is $25,000 once and other systems are around $19,000 per year.

The operations committee agreed to meet with Williams and discuss the package prior to the next meeting.

Williams noted that the work crews have started doing smoke testing in Lawrence Township and some in the borough.

If residents see smoke coming into their homes, they should notify work crews in the area. The smoke is not toxic.

Engineer Jim Balliet reported that the wetland survey for the Moose Creek well is being completed and he will have a report next month.

He said it appears that the wetlands cover the same area as before and possibly more and the report to the Susquehanna River Basin Commission will indicate the well is not negatively impacting the wetlands.

Balliet also reported that there were two Sanitary Sewer Overflow discharges in Hyde since the May meeting. The first was May 22-23 and the second was June 10 with an estimated fine of $3,750.

When asked by media if the board had any comment regarding Lawrence Township’s decision to no longer pay their portion of the fines to the state Department of Environmental Protection, the board had no comment but did indicate that the following executive session was for legal matters. There was no action concluding the executive session.
