CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough’s student employee has been recognized for his hard work this year.
At Thursday’s Clearfield Borough Council meeting, Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott announced that the borough’s co-op worker has recently been recognized at the annual co-op banquet for having the best attendance of all the co-op students this year.
Stott said that Porter Kling, son of Todd and Jessica Kling and a senior at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School, was a “solid worker” and that the borough couldn’t be more pleased with him.
“We really were glad to have him this year. He’s done an outstanding job,” Stott said.
Also, at the meeting, Police Chief Vince McGinnis warned yard sale patrons to be courteous and respectful when visiting the various yard sales and garage sales throughout the borough. McGinnis said many of the patrons are parking on sidewalks or against the flow of traffic.
Additionally, Code Enforcement Officer Larry Mack said he has recently issued 43 notices regarding property owners with high grass.
Mack said he has been “lenient” due to the recent rainy weather, but residents must comply with the borough’s ordinance to keep their lawns trimmed.
Mack said there have also been numerous problems with individuals blowing their grass out onto the street. He said he will be issuing citations for those violations as well.
Mack said the grass gets into the storm drains and will clog the drains, causing problems during heavy rains.
In other business, the council voted to approve:
- Allowing the Tri-County Church to sponsor free parking during Fair Week.
- A request by First Energy to add a street light on Kelly Avenue, behind J. G. Food Warehouse.
- Closing Cherry Street from Front Street to Second Street Aug. 7 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. for National Night Out.
- Posting a “no right turn” on Turnpike Avenue for southbound traffic at Martin Street.
- Awarding the bid for paving to New Enterprise in the amount of $104,021.05.
- Advertising for bids for culvert repair at Fourth Street and East Market Street.
- Having the solicitor review and prepare the ordinance for a complete sewer re-inspection due to inflow and infiltration issues.
- Accepting the resignation of Sergio Caltagarone from the police department.
- Reinstating the employment of William Armstrong on a part-time, temporary basis.
- Tabling a motion to have the solicitor begin the process of vacating a section of the alley between South Third Street and Linden Street.
