HYDE — The Clearfield Area High School baseball and softball teams rated No. 3 seeds for the District 9 Class AAAA Playoffs and will be going on the road for semifinal games Wednesday.

The Bison (10-5) own a better record than Punxsutawney (9-7-1), but the Chucks received the No. 2 seed because of more strength-of-schedule points for playing Class AAAAA Altoona and Williamsport and Class AAAAA DuBois and Hollidaysburg in the Central Penn League and will host the 4:30 p.m. game at Rich Kuntz Memorial Field.

Their completion of an April 11 suspended game Friday will not count because the deadline for seedings was Thursday.

No. 1 seed St. Marys (12-6) will have home field edge against No. 4 Bradford (10-10) in the other semifinal Wednesday.

The championship game will be played May 30 at Showers Field in DuBois.

The Lady Bison (9-11) will open at No. 2 seed St. Marys (11-7) in a 4 p.m. start.

No. 1 seed Punxsutawney (13-3) received a bye into the title game May 25 at Heindl Field in DuBois.
